Gary Shelton, DVM — Medical Director
Dr. Gary Shelton is a 1985 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and a 1981 graduate of the University of Florida College of Agriculture. He and his wife Nena have a small farm in Elkton with cows, horses, and dogs. For over 30 years, Dr. Shelton has practiced veterinary medicine on the pets and farm animals in St. Johns, Putnam, and Flagler counties. He has a special interest in surgery and orthopedics in dogs and cats, as well as equine medicine and surgery.
Dr Shelton is president of the Board of the Flagler Humane Society, Dr. Shelton is also a founding member of the St. Augustine Regional Veterinary Emergency Center, a co-op after-hours emergency hospital for the region's dogs and cats.
His hobbies include horseback riding and exploring new places.
Jeff Laraway, DVM — Chief of Staff
Dr. Jeff Laraway, our Chief of Staff, joined Shelton Veterinary Clinic in 1990 upon graduating from veterinary school. At the University of Florida, he earned a BS degree in Zoology in 1986 and then a DVM degree in 1990. His special interests include internal medicine and caring for wildlife and small ruminants.
Outside of work, Dr. Laraway enjoys spending time with the family and friends, outdoor activities, and watching college football. He has many pets at home including cats, turtles, fish, hermit crabs, as well as a hamster, a mouse, and a bird.
Lori Wendland, DVM
Dr. Lori Wendland began working at Shelton Veterinary Clinic at the beginning of 2018. Originally from Trenton, Florida, she now resides in Cross Creek. Dr. Wendland graduate from Florida International University in 1990. Later, she earned a DVM degree from the University of Florida in 1999. Dr. Wendland has a lot of experience in the veterinary field, previously practicing at Micanopy Animal Hospital for 14 years, Town and Country Animal Hospital for two years, and Knowles Veterinary Hospital for one year.
