Our History
Dr. Gary Shelton graduated from the University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. He began his career working at Interlachen Veterinary Clinic and then went on to purchase the practice. He provided quality care serving Putnam County for both small and large animals. As the practice grew he added additional veterinarians to the team, Dr. Jeff Laraway joined the practice in 1990, and other successful veterinarians joined the team throughout the years.
Dr. Shelton decided to expand into St. Johns County doing mobile farm calls and then went on to open a small animal hospital in Elkton in 1998, and he opened two offices in the Flagler County area in Bunnell and Palm Coast. Over the years the practices have continued to provide quality veterinary care both in the clinic and out in the field.
In June 2021 we lost our leader, mentor, and founding veterinarian Dr. Shelton, his unexpected passing has left our hearts deeply saddened. All of us here at Shelton Veterinary Clinic are continuing his legacy. We mourn the loss of both our long-time veterinarians Dr. Gary Shelton and Dr. Jeff Laraway, they will always be remembered by everyone at the practice and within the communities they served so faithfully for over 30 years.
